The Untold tale from India - Kahaani

For once i seem to come out of the theatre and still glued only to the screen images in my mind's eye.
I was reluctant and kept postponing the watching of the movie  for  one ,i dint like the Heroine , two the thought of a tragedy and three i Dint wanna cry.

All this and more i lazily dragged myself to the theatre with the woman who was jumping to watch the movie for a week and also patiently listening to my threatens WHAT IF the movie dint suit my tastes.

Even after entering the theatre I was only admiring the false ceiling interiors  with full confidence the movie would be less interesting .
I was contemplating when I could return home and while off the day watching better stuff.

The movie started playing I started watching it with an indifferent attitude only to realize I was so wrong .
As soon as the titles rolled out I was intrigued even by the production house graphics. So much for a all-time-romance holic (My way of saying I watch only the DDLJ type movies)

I must admit that every frame in the movie was gripping and the suspense in the end was revelling .Few things about the movie that kept me glued to the screen even in the interval.

The love of ma country.....

I love my country despite its drawbacks and this movie depicts both  the positive and negative side of India. Also the local flavours were so aptly captured in the movie. Be it the traditional chaya or the famous trams , everything is there in the movie.
My favorite was the tram and the Howrah bridge scenes where one gets to be at Kolkata virtually .
I love the dialogues which have deep meaning and I cant wait to catch a train to the city of Ma Kali.
Kalighat, i have heard from sources is a great destination despite some 'traditional' restrictions but today i wish i too could go to the place.
Kolkata is splendid and the Durga festival captured in the movie makes you feel one among the festivities.

The Dialogues....

There was something more gripping than the movie itself- the dialogues.
Every dialogue had a deeper meaning in the end.
Be the casual 'Arjun ka Sarathi' or 'naan mein tuje janthi huin ya tu muje janthi huin and jo bhi mein kar rah huin woh ham dono ko teek hein' the dialogues are classy and compelling.
I clapped my hands  and  I  cursed myself that I couldnt whistle for that particular dialogue. My squeaky whistle befits only the pressure cooker at home. ;)
I have never enjoyed a movie to such extent as i did this time.

The protagonist's baby bump....

I was so immersed in the movie that somewhere i felt i had a baby bump.

The last ten minutes of the movie almost ate every nerve of mine and I wanted to watch the next show too.

The Title....

I loved the movie for its title the most.
For once the written and tested paths of Bollywood's glitzy and glam songs have taken a back seat.
This is what i would like to fondly call 'Meaningful cinema' and Hats of V(B)idya , i loved you in the movie.

The indifference to my 'What Next'

The movie does seem slacky when you  expect "What Next" and it does not take the turn you expect to.
But its the last ten minutes that steals the whole show and you do realise every frame had something hidden and deeper in it.
When some review said Vidya needn the Khan's or Kapoor's to make it to Box office - THEY TRULY MEANT IT.

All said and done I would strongly urge anyone who is in thirst for a a lovely story(Kahani) to watch the movie.

This movie has got my thinking nerves on and today i look at the women in my life differently.
Every woman is unique, and her passion and integrity is deep. They may play different roles but deep within them their faith and belief in themselves make them a class apart.
The movie makes me stand up with pride and say "I have seen real life Vidya Bagchi's too . Not necessarily countering terrorism or fighting for their country or family  but for what they truly believe in"

I dedicate this movie to all my girl friends who in a way have inspired and in some way thought me the basic essence of life .

Some movies make you feel happy , some sad and some like Kahani - They make you reflect your  Life itself :)

PS: This is no review about a movie but my personal experience and love for a movie which has bowled me over and to all those who think there are too many smileys in this post ,  Its exact replica of my emotion during the movie :)

  1. Nice Review Mytri.. You have given the pulse of the movie with your writing.. Because when you are dis-interested in something you ll always try to ignore it... But when something makes your attention into it even when you are dis-interested should be really worth one... I am waiting to watch the movie... Keep up your writings... Well done...

    1. Thanks for your comments :) i did read it Krishna... To steal from Hollywood has been the IN-Trend in Bolly but such powerful performance only with a woman in the lead calls for a standing applause from an industry which is still a male dominated one :) I stil am bowled over the movie ..Willwatch the orig one too :)
