Chapter 2
Read Chapter 1 (Click to read)
A week had passed and Mia tried hard to ignore her heart and concentrate on other aspects of life as it would help her to recover better from the pain within.
It was D-day for Mia. Every day in the past two years she
dreamt of this day - the campus placement .
Being an outstanding student meant that she would be one of
the few to attend interviews with top notch companies. After some gruelling
initial rounds, around 11 PM she was thumping with joy to attend the O-o-O
interview.
She greeted her interviewer- Vijay with a warm smile .Midway
during the interview session Mia felt she was far from her present situation
and felt a coldness from deep inside. She gazed out of the window just to calm her
selves but she couldn’t.
Her deep sorrow seemed to grip her and she wanted to run
away from the interview room. Vijay realized her restlessness and tried to ask
questions not pertaining to the job and her qualification.
Mia soon relaized tha Vijay's feeble attempt to make her
talk were useless and her occassional "hmmm ... Yes that particular stuff
worked like this.. .. Hmm..." meant no job for her.
She had screwed her career and dreams in a simple arrogant
manner and knew just what caused her so much pain. She wanted to run away and
hug someone and cry out loud.
The pain seemed too much to her and she was cursing herself
for her folly. She thanked the interviewer for his patience and added
"Vijay... I know I dint do the interview well but still I'm too sure there
is only one way to access the database as I have told you. I'm too sure on that
because..."
Vijay interrupted "No Mia there are some other ways
too.. Like... "
Mia smiled as she understood that Vijay actually dint have
an answer and continued "Do let me know when You do find the answer. Thanks and Bye."
Mia walked out of the room in a dignified manner but with
tears rolling down her cheeks. She was letting herself down because she couldn’t
handle the deep pain inside her.
Why did she think of him after so long? It could have been
better ONLY if...
Mia reached her room by 1 AM in the early morning hours and
felt least sleepy. She wanted to call her best friend - Dimple. After much deliberation
around 2 AM she rang Dimple and told her to join for coffee at a nearby coffee
shop in a few hours time.
Dimple was more than happy to hear from her best friend after
a long time and agreed to meet her at the stipulated time.
Mia couldn’t wait for the clock to ring 11 AM that she
dressed up and started to walk to the coffee shop and waited in her usual
chat-o-meet place for Dimple
Dimple was a plump, happy looking woman .On entering the
coffee shop, she ran to hug Mia who looked dull and pale. Dimple squealed "Oh
my feather pooch, why do u look sullen madam . Is everything alright. You geek?”
Mia tried very hard to smile and muttered in a weak manner
"I need you .. I need your help. I think I've not moved on.. Pl help me...”
Dimple soon realized that her clattery friend had indeed not
moved on from her break up that had happened three months back.
Dimple was the only friend who knew Mia's relationship with Ransh
to be more than friendship.
Mia and Ransh met through common friends and Ransh was a
civil engineer who had high dreams of making it big in the construction field. Ransh
and Mia were opposites and it was that which attracted them and kept them
together for almost 3 years.
Mia always favored her first love and nurtured her feelings
for Ransh. She felt happiest when with him and trusted him most. She knew she
had a guy whom she could proudly proclaim as being head over heels over her and
would do everything for her.
It was the most beautiful part of life she felt.
All seemed bright and beautiful until the day they parted
ways. There was nothing in particular to fight about but everything added from
one level to another.
Dimple knew both Mia and Ransh well that she would often try
to calm both her friends but this time it was of no use. Mia was never ready to
accept someone whom she had started to detest. She feared her detest would grow
more and she called Ransh one day and ended the relationship.
She spent three weeks before she called it quits and Ransh
was on the receiving end. Ransh knew his
was a grave error and his Taurean girlfriend would never accept simple
apologies. It was hard to make her understand him.
He realized it had gone too far from his side that he could
get never get her back to him.
Mia ordered a Latte while Dimple settled for Mocha and they
both were trying to figure a way to help Mia.
