Man - a social animal

"Man is a social animal"- I'm yet to decipher the nuances of this statement . Here's a  collection of events that lead me to this thought process.

I work in the IT field where everyone knows everything but do not know who is the very next neighbor is. Classic case of the "colleague found dead and neighbor wasn't aware"

Moving on, we presume to know every block and its residents near our home. In today's sense neighbors mean trouble. Trouble either in form of excessive noise or excessive nosey Parker stuff.

Reflecting back I realize the true sense of sociableness or social life perhaps was during school whereby you're forcibly changed sections and sometimes put up with teachers who weren't of your liking. One wasn't at liberty of acting freely and a common choice was always chosen.

In this fast paced world of social exponentiation by the likes of Facebook Twitter hangouts there's still the empty void in most of us

Have we stopped seeing ourselves as a social being or the freedom of choices and cost of affordable living made man otherwise a unsocial wretch- my pondering continues...
