Love is in the Air ~ Chapter 4

Mia passed a week more in remorse and pain . One evening she saw Asha return late from college and upon questioning she knew Asha was seeing someone.

Some strange feeling creeped inside Mia and she felt lonely than ever.

Mia tried to ignore Asha's constant talk about 'her guy’.

One afternoon as she was nonchalantly sipping her green tea, she got a call from one of her old friends asking if she would be interested to join an NGO that helped children in nearby slum.

If she was asked at some other point in time Mia would have been the first to turn down the offer. She felt the best way to get away from her pain was to divert herself with a completely different environment.

She rushed up in the call and cut it short saying "Jiya.. i know it sounds crazy but count me in. I m least interested in details. Wherever u go , I go!" and she cut the call.

Mia knew she was blunt but knew Jiya knew her better and wouldn’t mind.

 Mia felt a little better as weeks passed by. Her pale complexion had given way to some cheerful pink cheeks. She spent her weekends as well as weekdays at the NGO . The NGO's aim was to teach children the basics and encourage them to attend school.

Mia took every single opportunity to spend with the kids as she felt relaxed and happy in the company of the innocent looking cherubs who would smile wide on seeing her and blush when she talked to them.

There was sudden change in the weather and Mia was happier than she was a few weeks back. She spent a lot of time on reading child literature, books and fiction. She read all the books that she had once favored as a kid to the children.

She laughed, played and even sang with them. She would teach the children to sing nursery rhymes and would laugh endlessly at their pronunciations.

Dimple felt a little relieved as she could sense the changes in her friend towards a better beginning.

Despite all the happy faces she bore to her friends Mia hid her deep pain inside. She felt the void Ransh had created in her. She would console herself that he wasn't there in the first twenty years of life so his absence for the rest of herlife shouldn't impact her so much but it did!

She tried hard to curb her thoughts and meditate on thoughts other than Ransh. Given all the day's beautiful surprises and happiness Mia still felt the coldness in the night and would sit endlessly switching from one movie to another in her laptop. The dialogues dint make meaning to her any more.

One night it was 11 PM and Mia felt the sudden urge to walk alone in the park nearby. When she told the idea to Asha , Ashal gulped "Heyy are you al-right ! I mean your kidding me right... OMG... You expect to walk in the park this late and all alone... Mia you’re a woman.. Don’t u .."

Mia was a determined woman when it came to certain decisions and Mia just pressed hard her index finger on Asha's lips and opened the door of her room. She climbed the stairs and ran out to the terrace. She could feel the cold air hit her bones. She called out to Asha to fetch her shrug and with a shrug wrapped around and a mobile in hand she started to walk in the terrace.

She enjoyed the lonely walk and saw the bright moon shining above. The moon gave the thoughts of the happy days she had spent with Ransh. The silly fights, the endless talks and useless walks.

A naughty idea creeped in her mind and she checked if Asha was anywhere to be seen. Asha was long gone to talk over the phone to her 'beloved'

Mia quietly crawled near the water-tank in the terrace. She climbed the small steel ladder that led to her the other-side of the terrace and voilà she was just where she wanted to be-the wall that separated her hostel from the road. Another climb across a wooden ladder she would be on the road.

Walking like a cautious cat Mia climbed down the wooden ladder and was on the road in no time. The gate keeper had already dozed off and having no fears about 'getting-caught' she crossed the empty road and reached the park nearby.

She saw that the gates were closed but it dint deter her from entering it from children's entrance on the other side. She entered and ran to the swing and sat there for long.

She saw that her mobile ticked to 12 PM and it was midnight. She dint swing much as the creaky old swing would give noises and would get her in trouble. She sat there thinking hard on how to overcome her current situation when suddenly she heard a voice from behind.

She turned around and froze to see her beloved. She saw Ransh sit quietly on the see-saw and fidgeting with a ring in his hand. She walked up-to him and started speaking to him "Its past midnight! why on earth are you here.. Do u hear me! Why are u here! "

Ransh quietly and politely replied "Madam its something I should ask you. What brings you here.. Are u not afraid of.."

Mia : Oh..What’s with this woman thing!! I hate to be reminded of my sex and being called the weaker one all the time!!!. I only wanted to enjoy my night... so could you Pl reply to my question!

Ransh : Mia I missed you . I terribly do. I feel empty and void. Despite all the angry words you spoke , don't you love me?

Few more heated arguments and the love birds were kissing each other when suddenly Ransh pushed Mia aside gently and yelled

"Miaaa... OMG.. You little vamp.. Vampire.. you bit me .. Three years and you haven’t learnt to kiss !!!You always bite!! Oh.. It hurts bloody!!"

Mia ignored Ransh shouts of pain and coolly replied "What’s your blood group ?  you taste good!! Yummmmmy... come here ... let me have some more!!! I love to bite your child like sweet fleshy , soft lips" and she winked with a wicked smile.

Ransh pulled her to his side and gently pressurized his lips on her. This time he dint let Mia get the better of him.. Mia let herself enjoy the kiss and saw the moon hide behind the clouds.

They kissed until....

"Mia.. Mia.. Oh What’s up with this gal.. Wake up Mia.. Wake up. I need to go now... !!. Oh Mia... my sweet pretty pussy cat Oh wake up.. .. Meowwww... wakeey wakeeyy " and in the end Asha slapped hard on a sleeping Mia's cheek  .. Mia woke up as if from a deep slumber and wiped the tears of her eyes... She realized her kiss was indeed a dream and got up from her bed and sat for a while before waving adieu to her friend.

Mia remembered urging Asha to wake her up soon the next day
